LONDON, 22 May 2013: Metric Capital Partners (“MCP”), the European private capital group, has announced today its investment in Domia Group, the leading player in the French supplementary education market.
Domia Group (“Domia”), listed on the Marché Libre of NYSE Euronext Paris, is the leading provider of supplementary education in France, offering a range of services through its network of more than 100 regional branches and serving more than 50,000 students in the financial year to August 2012. The company specialises in home tutoring for students of all levels and has a growing presence in the collective tutoring market. In addition, Shiva, a subsidiary of Domia, is a growing provider of domestic services such as cleaning and childcare through its broad network of branches and franchisees.
MCP’s investment, which takes the form of a capital increase to be followed by a public tender offer for remaining outstanding shares at a later date, backs the restructuring and turnaround of the business which has suffered in recent years as a result of changes to the regulatory environment. John Sinik, Managing Partner of MCP, commented: “We are thrilled to be backing a strong management team and the clear market leader in supplementary education. We are confident that with the strong balance sheet provided by the MCP investment, the management team will have the necessary resources to implement their growth strategy.“
PwC Corporate Finance advised Domia Group on the process while Paul Hastings acted as legal advisor. Linklaters acted as legal advisor to MCP on the transaction.
John Sinik and David Scheurl will represent MCP on the Board of Directors of the company.
The investment in Domia Group follows Metric’s investments in LM Funerals, The Vincent Hotel Group, Kedleston UK, Áras Sláinte, Global Diagnostics and GCT since March 2012.
Launched in September 2011, MCP is an independent private capital group which invests in European small and medium-sized firms by providing debt and equity solutions to support the execution of strategic transactions including MBOs, MBIs, growth/development capital, refinancing and rescue financing.
